Rolls Royce CEO Pokes The Bentley Bentayga With A Burning Stick

By, 2017-08-10

As the launching day for the new SUV from Rolls-Royce is approaching, A war of statements has started between Rolls-Royce and Bentley and this time it was through the CEO of Rolls-Royce who said: “The Bentayga is nothing more than a Q7 with Bentley’s logo”

Torsten Müller-Ötvös said: “We are not using mass-manufactured body shells. That limits what you can do on the design side, and it undermines exclusivity massively. You don’t want a camouflaged [Audi] Q7 in that segment. You want to have a true Rolls-Royce”.

Ötvös also spoke about the development of the new Rolls-Royce SUV. He said the Rolls-Royce chassis required a certain design, which will deliver the luxury driving experience of Rolls-Royce in the new car. Ötvös added that Cullinan will come with its own modified wheelbase and will not share a wheelbase with any other car, like what Bentayga did.

Ötvös has refused to disclose any information about the all-new Cullinan but we know that it will take a couple of years to reach dealers as testing is still underway. Therefore, the Bentley Bentayga has all the time in the world to continue raking in strong sales during that window.

It is worth mentioning that the Cullinan will carry the engine of its sister Phantom, a twin-turbo V12 engine with a capacity of 6.75 liters to produce a power of 563 hp and torque of up to 900.
